Showers
$2.12 – $508.80
The simple dignity of keeping yourself clean and smelling good is not something that we often ponder. However, if you are living on the streets or in substandard living conditions, it does not take long before dirt and sweat become embedded into your clothing, skin and hair. One youth recently asked for hug from someone but took back his request because he said that he was gross. We gave the hug anyway! But this only shows that the simple dignity of being clean can either erode confidence or affirm it. The Refuge provide access to hot showers (with soap and shampoo) for youth each weekday and when needed. Please consider providing one shower, a week of showers, a month of showers or a year of showers.
Description
Dignity is something we often take for granted but the difference between being treated with respect and dignity and a lack of dignity is huge. Being treated with a lack of dignity crushes, oppresses and drains one of hope, energy and the desire to make a difference. However, on the flip-side of this, when one is treated with respect and dignity it can often motivate one to make a difference in their own lives. The Refuge seeks to interact with all youth in a manner that affirms their God-given dignity, individuality and the reality that they are made by God as special.
