Transportation
$6.00 – $162.50
Youth at The Refuge have to walk everywhere as they cannot afford to pay for a taxi nor public transportation. Youth spend about 90-100% of their monthly income on rent (if they have or can find a place in which to live). That means paying for transportation is not an option. However, from time to time, youth have to walk considerable distances for appointments, to view apartments, etc. With the move from bus tickets to the Presto Card, The Refuge provides youth with Presto cards (and refills Presto Cards) that they can use to get to these appointments. Please consider purchasing a Presto Card, A round trip refill or 25 round trips that will be used throughout the year.
Description
Sometimes it is the little things that mean the most. A hug at the right moment. A warm cup of coffee when you are cold. A ride when you are exhausted and think you cannot take another step.
At The Refuge, many little things are done to show the youth that they are valued and valuable, small things to relieve stress and pain, seemingly insignificant acts that bring hope for another day. And isn’t that what Christmas is really about – a little ‘package’ born many years ago that means so much to us today.
